DPS is ready to serve you at the Great Minnesota Get-Together
Aug. 24, 2023
The Great Minnesota Get-Together has arrived! As you visit the Minnesota State Fair to try the new food options and see the sights, take the time to duck out of the sun and into the Education Building, where the Department of Public Safety (DPS) staff is set up to serve you.
We will be at the fair 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day with fun activities, demonstrations and prizes to help you and your loved ones stay safe all year long. The
fair runs through Labor Day.
Each day, we'll be highlighting work of divisions, such as:
Most of us know you can't have an open bottle of booze out while you're driving. But do you know the rules for cannabis? You can spin our wheel of
frequently asked cannabis questions to test your knowledge on the new law's impact on traffic safety and win neat prizes. The most important thing to remember: Driving high is a DWI. However, we've got all the facts you need to stay safe and legal on the road in Minnesota if you're a cannabis consumer.
Our staff will be able to help you navigate other changes, too. Our experts from our Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) division will be on hand answer questions about the
Driver's License for All law passed by the Minnesota Legislature earlier this year. The law, which goes into effect Oct. 1, means Minnesotans will no longer need to show proof of legal presence in the U.S. to get an instruction permit, driver's license or identification card.
For the first time, you'll be able to get your tabs printed at a
DVS Now kiosk at the fair. The new kiosks use scanning and touchscreen technology to securely update registration information. Step-by-step instructions, along with optional voice assistance, are provided on-screen in English or Spanish. After you put in the information, your tabs print instantly at the kiosk.
If you share our passion for public service, you can learn more about our open positions and chat with our employees about what it's like to work for DPS. We have a wide variety of opportunities for Minnesotans of all backgrounds to make a difference in the lives of their communities.
We look forward to seeing you at the State Fair!
