Future Weather Awareness Weeks

Severe Weather Awareness Week (April)

The Severe Weather Awareness Week campaign helps teach Minnesotans about weather hazards and provides resources to minimize the risks associated with severe weather. Using this site as a guide, everyone is encouraged to make a plan, build an emergency kit and practice drills. The campaign and the scheduled statewide tornado drills are conducted in collaboration with the State of Wisconsin and the National Weather Service. Check back here every March for more information about this event.

Winter Hazard Awareness Week (November)

To help Minnesotans minimize the risks and hazards of winter, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety — in collaboration with the National Weather Service and other state, federal and non-profit agencies — sponsors Winter Hazard Awareness Week to educate, inform, remind and reinforce the behaviors and actions that lead to a warm, safe and enjoyable winter season.

The week-long educational campaign includes web-based information and materials to assist citizens and communities in preparing for winter weather risks. Check back here every October for more information about this event.
