Monthly Preliminary Fatal Crash Numbers

November 2021 Preliminary Fatal Crash and Fatality Numbers

  • There were 42 fatal crashes in November, compared with 33 last year.
  • There were 47 fatalities in November, compared with 34 last year.
  • Of the 47 fatalities:
    • Two person died in distracted driving-related crashes.    
    • 16 people died in speed-related crashes.        
    • Eight people died in an alcohol-related crash.                  
    • 16 people died who were unbelted.         
    • 30 were men, 16 were women and one was not reported.
    • Five were a pedestrians.             
    • Zero were bicyclists.​
    • Two were motorcyclists.   
  • 1,955 motorists were arrested for DWI in November, compared with 1,673 in November 2020.

Year-to-date Fatalities (January-November 2021)  

  • Preliminary numbers show 427 traffic crashes in 2021, compared with 340 last year. 
  • 465 people were killed in traffic crashes in 2021, compared with 365 in 2020.  
  • Of the 465 fatalities:
    • 21 people died in distracted driving-related crashes.               
    • 150 people died in speed-related crashes.         
    • 114 people died in alcohol-related crashes.                                   .                                                             .                              
    • 103 people died who were unbelted.                  
    • 337 were men, 126 were women and one was not reported.
    • 54 were pedestrians.    
    • Nine were bicyclists.
    • 67 were a motorcyclists.                    
  • 22,521 motorists were arrested for DWI in 2021, compared with 22,653 in 2020.
