Monthly Preliminary Fatal Crash Numbers

June 2019 Preliminary Fatal Crash and Fatality Numbers

  • There were 37 fatal crashes in June, compared with 31 last year.
  • There were 41 fatalities in June, compared with 34 last year.
  • Of the 41 fatalities:
    • 3 people died in distracted driving-related crashes.    
    • 7 people died in speed-related crashes. 
    • 8 people died in an alcohol-related crash. 
    • 5 people died who were unbelted.    
    • 28 were men, 13 were women. 
    • 2 were pedestrians. 
    • 1 was bicyclists.
    • 9 were motorcyclists.
  • 2,571 motorists were arrested for DWI in June, compared with 2,191 in June 2018.

Year-to-date Fatalities (January – June)  

  • Preliminary numbers show 151 people have been killed in traffic crashes in 2019, compared with 155 last year. 
  • Of the 110 fatalities:
    • 15 people died in distracted driving-related crashes.       
    • 29 people died in speed-related crashes. 
    • 32 people died in alcohol-related crashes.         
    • 27 people died who were unbelted. 
    • 100 were men, 51 were women. 
    • 19 were pedestrians. 
    • 2 were bicyclists
    • 14 were motorcyclist 4 were motorcyclist
  • 13,489 motorists were arrested for DWI so far in 2019 (January – June), compared with 12,896 through June 2018.
