Monthly Preliminary Fatal Crash Numbers

  November 2019 Preliminary Fatal Crash and Fatality Numbers

  • There were 27 fatal crashes in November, compared with 29 last year.
  • There were 31 fatalities in November, compared with 30 last year.
  • Of the 31 fatalities:
    • 1 person died in distracted driving-related crashes.    
    • 5 people died in speed-related crashes.   
    • 7 people died in an alcohol-related crash.   
    • 5  people died who were unbelted.    
    • 21 were men, 10 were women were men
    • 8 were pedestrians. 
    • 2 were bicyclists.
    • 4 were motorcyclists.
  • 2,249 motorists were arrested for DWI in November, compared with 2,201 in October 2018.

Year-to-date Fatalities (January-November)  

  • Preliminary numbers show 337 people have been killed in traffic crashes in 2019, compared with 346 last year. 
  • Of the 337 fatalities:
    • 26 people died in distracted driving-related crashes.               
    • 67 people died in speed-related crashes.      .    
    • 92 people died in alcohol-related crashes.                              
    • 66 people died who were unbelted.   
    • 216 were men, 121 were women. 
    • 42 were pedestrians. 
    • 11 were bicyclists 
    • 44 were motorcyclist 
  • 25,610 motorists were arrested for DWI so far in 2019 (January-November), compared with 24,430 through November 2018. That's a 4.8 percent increase.
