Emergency Response

The Homeland Security and Emergency Response branch of HSEM works to protect the lives and property of Minnesotans from the threat or act of terrorism.

It does this through the Emergency Alert System, a partnership with the National Guard and the Emergency Management Assistance Compact.

State-Contracted Response Teams

Effective May 1, 2019, coordination of Minnesota’s state-contracted response teams (including hazmat, technical rescue, bomb squads and the 55th Civil Support Team) has been moved to the State Fire Marshal division.
